About the Chattanooga Youth Network

Our Driving Values

Our History

The Greatness of God - That He would be Seen and Savored for all He is worth. There is nothing more satisfying to the human heart than the treasuring of the beauty and wonder of the majesty of God in Christ.

The Body of Christ - That we as the Church would transcend denominational and racial lines in reaching this generation. We believe that taking this simple step of working together will bring Immense Glory and Honor to Jesus. John 17:21-23 reveals that the Body of Christ working together is a "visual aid" to the world that Jesus is sent by God.

Leveraging Leadership - We are tenaciously dedicated to the fact that as youth leaders are equipped for ministry, then teenagers will be reached more effectively, discipled more thoroughly, and family stability will be heightened. The exponential effect of empowering youth leaders for broader and deeper impact in teens' lives is massive.

Relational Ministry - The heart of effective ministry comes through relationships. God has given youth leaders as gifts to this region for His glory and the region's good. When these leaders join together in mutual prayer, accountability, care and training, the region's youth ministry effort has broader and deeper impact.

Prayer - Crying out to God is part and parcel to living for God. Psalm 50:15 says, "Call upon me in the day of trouble, and I will rescue you and you will honor me." Our desire is that God's fame be spread throughout this region. We believe this will take place when we Cry out in our neediness and He answers us in His greatness and we Honor Him. The Giver gets the glory. We are dependent receivers.

The Chattanooga Youth Network started as a dream of some Chattanooga’s leaders to reach and disciple our city's teenagers (Big Dream).  Dreams like this are gifts of God's grace.  These leaders explored a variety of options and cast the dream to other leaders.  God gave confirmation of this vision by raising up a large-hearted visionary to fund the first two years.  With this funding, CYN officially began in 1994 with the hiring of Tony Souder as the Executive Director.  This leverage funding was crucial for the ministry's beginning because of the freedom it provided the staff to serve the community without an underlying need for those we serve to financially support the ministry.

CYN flourished the first four years as it operated under the organizational umbrella of the Chattanooga Resource Foundation (CRF).  In August of 1998, CYN became a separate non-profit ministry with the blessing and help of the Resource Foundation.

By the grace of God and strong board leadership we have made great strides and we continue to vigorously move ahead in serving our city and region.
